Мандос мог установить запрет на возврат (и разрешить повторный брак) только в том случае, если этого желал сам Умерший:
"'... For it must be clearly understood that, when this will not to return has been solemnly declared and ratified by Mandos, then the living partner may take another spouse lawfully. For it is contrary to the nature of the Eldar to live unwedded, and the Dead may not compel the Living to remain solitary against their will.
