Рад, что переубедил относительно "схемности". А Толкин к китайской философии отношения не имел. Зато имел к христианской:-)

Центральная проблема ВК - смерть и бессмертие.
Истинная суть конфликта для автора (хотя я согласен, в тексте это не проявляется) - право Бога на то, что божественные почести могут оказываться лишь Ему: "In The Lord of the Rings the conflict is not basically about 'freedom', though that is naturally involved. It is about God, and His sole right to divine honour. The Eldar and the Númenóreans believed in The One, the true God, and held worship of any other person an abomination. По Льюису, основная идея – «развенчание власти». Впрочем, сам Толкин писАл, что это не совсем так.
